NIC NET SERVICES

   NICNET was  designed  and   implemented  by  NIC using state-of-the-art satellite-based  computer communication  technology.   Keeping  in view the wide geographic spread of  the country,  ranging from Islands in the Indian Ocean to the highest Himalayan  Ranges,  the  design of NIC NET, which is  one  of  the largest VSAT Networks of its kind in the world, ensures extremely cost effective and reliable implementation.

   In Mahe, NICNET  has  now  been  operational since 1994 and  has become an  integral part of Office of the Regional Administrator and large no of Government Departments,  providing  information exchange  services. NICNET services  include  file transfer, electronic mail,  remote data base  access,  data broadcast, EDI. The installation Direct PC & FTDMA technology started the internet facility in NIC, Mahe which helps general public to access important information quickly especially examination result and competitive exam results.

  PAYROLL

        As a part of the office automation, Payroll system has been implemented in following Government Departments in Mahe.

 COMPUTERIZATION OF EXCISE DEPARTMENT

        The Software for issuing Import Permit, Export Permit and Transport  Permit  for  Excise Department, has  been  implemented

since the  beginning  of the NIC.  The computerization helped  the  department  speedy dispatch of Permits with in a limited time frame.

 COMPUTERIZATION OF TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT

        The Software for Issuing Lerner’s License, Driving license and Registration of  Vehicles is  implemented in NIC, Mahe.

 LAND  RECORDS COMPUTERIZATION

        Computerization  of Land Records for Sub Taluk Office, Mahe  has been successfully completed. The Software in Bi-lingual (English & Malayalam) has been installed in NIC, Mahe.   Data  Entry , Verification of Data and Updating for all villages has been completed. The Settlement Register and other Reports has been generated in pre-printed stationery.

 EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGE COMPUTERIZATION

 The registration of employment  seekers, renewal of registrations, additional entries of qualifications and experiences obtained subsequently. Submission of candidates  list  to  employers. Employment  market  information compilation   and   submission  of statistical data. Generating Registration  Identity  Card  to  public in  pre  printed  stationery. Verification  of Renewal status, Seniority status, correctness of  data entered already in respect of registrants etc, are the major attraction for the computerization.

 CERTIFICATE  COMPUTERIZATION IN SUB TALUK OFFICE  

        Issuing  different  Certificates  like  Community  certificate, Nativity  certificate,  Income  certificate   etc  of  Sub Taluk,  Revenue Department  has  been  computerized.

 LAN BETWEEN NIC AND OFFICE OF THE REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR   

        A Multi Lingual terminal has been installed at Regional Administrator’s Chamber through Dialup Modem Connection using EPBX lines. This  Facility helped  Regional Administrator to transmit\Receive urgent  E-Mails  to\from  Government  of Pondicherry and other Departments\Ministries.

 COMPUTERIZATION OF OLD AGE PENSION SCHEM

The Pension scheme of Social Welfare Department has been computerized.  This System generates  Anganwadiwise Acquittance for distribution of pension to the Old Age  widows/Handicapped persons. Acquittance for Plan Schemes and Non-Plan Schemes generate separately.  Monthly consolidated and statistical reports needed for the dept. are also prepared. Continuous return/Expire cases were taken care by the system. Prepares statements for these cases.

 NIC SUPPORT TO MAHE ADMINISTRATION DURING GENERAL ELECTION

Updating  the data every  TWO  hours  on the polling  day  by logging directly  into the Server at Pondicherry  through NIC NET.   The  reports  like   Region  wise  Polling  Percentage, Constituency  wise  Polling  Percentage and  Booth  wise  Polling Percentage of UT  disseminated to General Public, Mahe.  The  Reports like FORM A08, FORM 20 has been  generated for Election  Office.   Transmitted  the Flash News, VIP  Tracks,  and detailed  Track  forms  to Election Server, NIC HQ, New  Delhi  through NIC NET for DoorDarshan. After installing necessary computer system and peripherals at counting place, round wise election result from counting place has been  displayed on Board at various places in Mahe  for General Public.
